The Struggle Is Real

Here I am in this big city, 24 years old and with a baby whom is about to have her first birthday. We have now moved into an apartment with my friend whom has graciously given up her one bedroom and decided to move into a two bedroom with my daughter and I to give me a chance to save some money and really get on feet.

Although I was working two jobs, I have a baby and daycare is expensive. So needless to say the struggle was real. Of course it is her first birthday so much isn’t needed so we just got the cake and celebrated at her sitters house. And we just kept pressing along to make it. Having a roommate made things a lot easier and I was able to stay focused and come up with some type of game plan because of course my roommate was eventually going to move on as she had her own life to live.

The 3 of us had a blast my daughter and roommate were the funniest pair to me. We have made some friends at work and really getting a feel of being in this new big city. Georgia was a place that I had wanted to live since I visited when I was younger with my aunt and uncle. My uncle is a die hard Atlanta braves fan which meant so was I. Of course I was too busy focusing on providing a life for my daughter and I that I did not think about going to law school. I just worked, started dating and just trying to enjoy life despite the ups and downs.

Our lease is up and my roommate is going to move back into a one bedroom but of course still in the same complex. We are working and focused on making it. I have come up with plan that by the time my baby was 5 she was going to be in a house. So I kept pressing and kept saving. During these times you have to know what is and is not important. I could not afford to be splurging, eating out every day, etc.. I had a baby to feed and if anyone was going to eat it was going to be her.

WORDS OF INSPIRATION:

Being a single parent is hard work whether it is with 1 child or more. There are certain luxurious that you can not afford, there a certain times when you have to decide that they will be the only ones eating and you will be ok. I mean the struggle is truly real however the outcome is so worth it. You have to push yourself even when you feel like all hope is gone. Because looking into your child’s eyes, the child whom did not ask to be here, you know that you have to defeat all odd and press forward. Therefore my beauties, dry your eyes and know that your hard work is not in vain.

Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. – James 1:12
