Childress Vineyards

On Wine Tours and Tastings today brings us to Childress Vineyards, located in Lexington, NC.

This is one of my favorite Vineyards to relax, have a great lunch, write and think. The grounds are absolutely peaceful and beautiful. Childress has recently enclosed the barn area and included a patio area with table and chairs. Throughout the year they have multiple events to include their annual Grape Stomping, which I just experienced firsthand this year and it was so much fun. During the process, I could only think of the episode from Lucy and Ricky show (for those of you who are too young…YouTube it…lol).

Along with the numerous events they also have a great bistro that serves lunch. Let me just tell you the food is thebomb.com. Of course, I’m an eater so the taste of fresh and delicious food paired with a great glass of wine makes my day. One of my favorite lunch meals from the Bistro is there BLT ( I love to get it on a croissant) with a side of truffle fries. It’s still warm out so I’m taking advantage of the Peach Bellini wine slush while it’s available.

Now onto our favorite part…the wine! Childress has a variety of dry, sweet and semisweet wines. They have them categorized by Classics, Varietals, Reserves, Signature, Dessert, and Specialty. The winemaking facility consists of 35,000 square ft. and features around 72 acres for more in-depth info visit (www.childressvineyards.com).

Although my palate has expanded I’m still a semi/sweet wine lover. One of my favorites is Childress Sweet White Wine made with Muscadine. I’m from NC and growing up there was nothing playing at my grandmother’s and picking muscadines and honeysuckle. My other favorites include there Sweet Blush, Riesling, and Sangria.

There are more great things about this Vineyard so make sure to add it to your list. Now we must continue our wine tour of great wineries and vineyards in NC. See you at the next stop!

I was honored to be able to experience the 2019 Grape Stomp Harvest. This was an experience that I will never forget. I had the opportunity to relax and enjoy the sunset over the vineyards which was amazing and great conversation with family members “sisters”. This place to me serves purpose in many different aspects not just the wine which was great but the views and the staffing members. I look forward to exploring more with family and good friends. This was a much needed outing that was beyond what I thought it would be.
